 Dad Installing Pipes Austin, TX My dad came in town so that he could install a drainage ditch in my brother's front yard, incidentally the side of the house that I was renting. The problem that we had was that rainwater kept collecting towards the patio of the house due to the natural slope of the surrounding terrain. The idea was just to install a simple pipe down to the street, just a few inches under the dirt, so that the water could drain at the street level. It seemed to work rather well.
