On my way from Göreme, Cappadocia, Turkey to Jordan, I decided that I would make a short stopover in Istanbul. I just wanted the opportunity to see some of the ancient historical attractions from the old city. The ancient cistern was certainly high on that list!
While I did get the chance to walk through it, they were unfortunately in the process of cleaning it and so it had been drained for the time being.
It actually wound up giving me a completely unique experience. So while I didn't get to see it as it typically looks, it was pretty cool all the same to really be able to see the structure of how it was originally constructed.
